DirecTV Facing Loss Of TNA Programming – Details

Viacom is currently threatening to pull all of its programming from DirecTV at midnight due to an ongoing dispute over rights fees. The network, whose channels include Comedy Central, Logo, BET, Spike, TV Land, Nick@Nite, Nickelodeon, TeenNick, Nick Jr., MTV, VH1, MTV2, Tr3´s, CMT and Palladia, says that they will pull the programming if a new deal cannot be reached; that would result in TNA losing access to over 20 million DirecTV customers.

DirecTV says that Viacom is asking for a huge fee increase, while Viacom counters that DirecTV wants to pay them less than any other carrier currently in business with the provider and that they have already been paying a lower rate, as their current contract is seven years.

TNA X-Division Title Tournament Details

TNA sent out the following today…

X-DIVISION TITLE TOURNAMENT DETAILS

Three weeks ago on IMPACT WRESTLING, Hulk Hogan gave Austin Aries a choice: To receive a World Title Match at Destination X on July 8, he must relinquish the X-Division Championship. Austin Aries’ counter-proposal to Hogan was “Option C”; that every year at Destination X, the X-Division Champion be given the same World Title Match option. With Austin Aries deciding to take the gamble, a new X-Division champion must be crowned.

Announced this week, the new X-Division Champion will be determined in a one-night tournament at Destination X. This tournament will feature current X-Division stars battling wrestlers from outside IMPACT WRESTLING. Qualifying matches for the outside wrestlers started this past Thursday on IMPACT WRESTLING on Spike TV and continue on the July 5th edition.

At Destination X, eight wrestlers will battle in four single matches in the opening round of the tournament. The four winners will advance to the championship match that evening where the X-Division title will hang in the balance in ULTIMATE X!

Ultimate X is a match unique to the X-Division and features the most death defying moves and moments ever captured inside and above a wrestling ring. Now, with the added value to the X-Division Championship, these brave athletes will do whatever it takes to start their road to destiny; a potential World Championship match at next year’s Destination X!

Current X-Division Stars Entered for Destination X
Zema Ion
Kid Kash
Doug Williams
Outside Wrestlers Qualified for Destination X

TNA Impact Results: BFG Series Continues, X-Division Tournament Begins, Sound Off

The show opens with a recap of Austin Aries' decision and the Dixie-AJ angle from last week.

Dixie and AJ are backstage talking about moving on. AJ says he's "gonna beat the piss out of" Kazarian and Daniels for all 3 of them.

Pyro goes off and Mike Tenay welcomes us to the Impact Zone.

We see Dixie and Claire Lynch backstage from earlier in the day.

Bound for Glory Series: Mr. Anderson vs. RVD

Tenay says Hulk Hogan tweeted that all BFG matches will have a 15 minute time limit. They counter each other with go-behinds and cover attempts. They slap hands and Anderson punches RVD in the head. Anderson hits a suplex for 2. RVD counters another suplex and hits a drop toe-hold into a bridge submission. Anderson reaches the ropes. Aries drapes his title across the ropes in front of him and says he respects the lineage of the X-Division Championship and that's why he made the 'Option C' proposition to Hogan last week. He says his days as X-Division Champion are numbered and at Destination X there will be a tournament to crown a new one. Bobby Roode's music hits.

Roode gets in the ring and says Aries is pathetically over-confident. He says his title is the real World Championship and he single handedly made it the most important title in wrestling. He says 12 men are clawing for their shot at the title at Bound for Glory and the only reason Aries is getting a shot is because of Hogan. Roode says Aries will fail and isn't in his league. Roode tells him to get out of his ring. Aries says it's his ring and knocks Roode's mic out of his hand. Aries takes off his shirt and they face off but Roode grabs his belt and retreats.

-Claire Lynch promo from last week where she cried sans tears

Claire and Dixie give an interview backstage. Claire says she had only met Kaz & Daniels in passing.

Kaz yells at Daniels in the locker room for dragging him into this and making him turn his back on AJ.

Bully slams his arm on the steps and brings him back in. Joe avoids a splash and Bully belly flops. Joe hits an inverted atomic drop, a boot to the face, and a back-splash for 2. Bully hits a Rock Bottom for 2. Bully goes to the second turnbuckle and misses a back-splash.

-Claire and Dixie explain more and tie up loose ends about the pictures and video that Daniels had.

Kazarian is in Hogan's office and says he has made a bad mistake the past 6 months. He can't tag with Daniels anymore. He says he is a victim and didn't know what he was getting into. Hogan says he's accountable and tells him to show people the 'real him' tonight.

(Commercial)

Garett Bischoff is approached by Madison Rayne backstage. She says she has a crush and asks him "what's he like?" She whispers in his ear who she's talking about and he tells her "good luck with that."

Brooke Hogan tells Miss Tessmacher backstage that she has gotten her a gig with Direct Auto Insurance. Tessmacher says it means a lot to her. Gail Kim shows up and says she wants to talk business she wants her rematch. Tessmacher says she would be glad. Brooke tells Gail not to tell her how to do her job but her rematch is next week.

X-Division Tournament Qualifier: Rashad Cameron vs. Mason Andrews

-Gut Check decision is next

The Gut Check judges are in the ring and Taeler Hendrix is introduced. Taz says yes.

Joey is in the front row with a sign that says "87% can't be wrong." Taz gets in his face. Ryan tells him to hit him. Taz tells him to jump over the rail. Snow calls for security and the producers come to remove Ryan.

Snow tells Taeler "no." Taeler cuts a final promo and says she is hungry. Prichard says he likes Taeler and she is green. But he says yes. She shakes their hands and thanks the fans in the camera.

Kurt Angle is backstage with AJ and tells him that he has respect for him for what he did for his friend with Dixie. They pep each other for their tag match tonight against Kaz & Daniels.

(Commercial)

-Dixie and Claire are in the audience.

TNA World Tag-Team Championship: Angle & Styles (c) vs. Kazarian & Daniels

Kaz starts off with AJ. AJ takes him down and tags Angle. Kazarian slaps Daniels hard on the arm for a tag. Daniels catches Angle with a boot in the corner. Kaz and Daniels have communication issues. Angle hits a suplex on Daniels and tags AJ. AJ hits a hurricanrana off the apron and rolls in to break the count then sends Daniels into the rail. Daniels and Kaz have words on the outside.

Austin Aries Speaks Out – IMPACT Going Live

Tim Stein sent this one along:

Just Another Goddamn Rasslin Show
Hosted by Jed Shaffer and Scott Barry
Sponsored by www.Eyeblack.com
Listen Live on Wednesday Nights 8:30pm ET/5:30 PT on www.wildtalkradio.com

TNA Impact Wrestling’s current X Division Champion and participant in the Infinity Pro’s Grand Tournament, Austin Aries joined Just Another Goddamn Rasslin Show Wednesday Night. In a nearly 20 minute interview, he talked about his upcoming title match against Bobby Roode at Destination X, which wrestlers he had enjoyed working with, the evolution of his gimmick throughout the years, if there was an “indy” stigma, what he thinks the next evolution of the business is, his views on TNA doing live programs this summer and a host of other topics.

Who he has enjoyed working with- “I wouldn’t say there’s one, I mean there’s always a handful of guys that you have certain chemistry in the ring with, that I always enjoy getting in the ring with. You talk about Brian Danielson, Samoa Joe, just to name a couple. There are other guys as well I have a good time with: Jimmy Jacobs, even though I usually end up spilling some blood in those encounters. But yeah there’s usually a group of guys, upper echelon guys that’s always fun to get in the ring with.

His evolving gimmick through the years- “I don’t know if my gimmick has changed per se. I think I’ve evolved as a wrestler; I’ve evolved as an entertainer and performer as far as my character. It’s just different parts of my life; when you’re talking about Generation Next days, my demeanor was just very singularly focused on making it myself. We were kind of no nonsense, all business; we were new to the scene and making people take notice. Fast forward now-a-days, I’ve obviously got 12-years under my belt and I have some accolades, I’m a lot more comfortable in the ring. So, you can see a lot more confidence exuded in my demeanor. I enjoy them all; I just enjoy getting in the ring and having a lot of range.”

What he thinks about TNA Impact doing live shows this summer- “I hope it is (a full time move). This period shows that being live makes a big difference, all across the board. It’s hard to surprise people if they already know what’s going to happen, and I think that element of surprise is something that we can definitely capitalize on and we can get people interested in the product. I think it’s a great move; hopefully when the summer’s over, they can decide it was a profitable move and continue to push forward. Going live is the first big step and I think (other people have mentioned it and I kind of agree) that eventually the next step is taking the show live on the road; it would be the big leap I think we’d all like to make.”

His view on the status of the X-Division and where it’s headed- “It’s carved its niche in the promotion; historically it has a lot of lineage and importance and hope it continues to have its own segment in the show, focused on the X Division. Obviously, through some injures and departures, the X Division roster has been depleted, so I think there’s going to be an attempt to restock coming up here and Destination X could be a place to start that.”

You can see Austin Aries on weekly on TNA Impact live this summer at 8pm ET/5 pm PT on Spike TV and watch him face off again Heavyweight Champion Bobby Roode at the Destination X PPV (Sunday July 7th). Make sure to call your local cable provider for details. You can also catch Austin Aries at the Infinity Grand Pro Tournament at the National Guard Armory in Bloomington, IN (Saturday June 30th). This Week’s TNA IMPACT! Wrestling Rating

Thursday night’s episode of iMPACT! Wrestling scored a 0.97 (1.0) cable rating, with 1.24 million viewers. Those numbers are down slightly from last week’s 1.02 (1.0) and 1.34 million viewers; it’s the lowest viewership during the summer series to date and in fact the lowest since June 24, 2010. The show ranked #37 among cable TV shows for the night and #15 in both the male 18 – 34 and male 18 – 49 demographic. TNA had VERY strong competition with the NBA game on Thursday night. WWE had been facing that same competition except for this past Monday and their rating was much higher than it has been due to not competing directly with the NBA. For those wondering, the NBA Finals which did a HUGE 18 million viewers.

The 6/14 TNA iMPACT! telecast drew a 1.02 (1.0) cable rating, with 1.34 million viewers. The show saw an increase in viewers from hour one (0.94 rating) to hour two (1.11) – a positive for the show. The show drew a 0.71 among males 18-34 and 0.89 among males 35-49.
